Presented at the Textile Museum on 25 March 2023, the Lalàgeatelier - Devices Vestimentari project is a tribute to the most important city in the Calvinian setting: Lalage , whose name etymologically means murmur, light noise. City that builds itself to grow and re-grow without end in lightness and protected by the Moon.
Lalàgeatelier - Vestimentary Devices is an inclusive project founded by the artist Sara Conforti in 2017 in collaboration with Fragole Celesti Female double diagnosis community for the treatment of abuse, violence and ill-treatment which combines artistic research, fashion and circular economy, production, teaching and care - territory, corporate social responsibility. A project to connect respect for the person to that for the environment according to the principles of the circular economy and circular fashion thanks to the creation of participatory textile works which arise from paths of re-edition of the self combined with manual and creative work aimed at the recovery of discarded garments and the reuse of fine fine pieces of the project's partner companies.
Presented through performances, talks and events, the textile works created become active vehicles to inspire a social transformation through creativity, culture and unconventional training.
THEThe Lalàgeatelier project - Clothing Devices in residence in the spaces of the Foundation and Textile Museum of Chieri - from March to June 2023 - offers the BOROTAROT workshop cycle free of charge to citizens. A collective and experiential journey led by the artist Sara Conforti through the knowledge and creative interpretation of the symbols and archetypes of the twenty-two Major Arcana of the Tarot.
BOROTAROT is a path that weaves dexterity and well-being, personal storytelling and creative writing and sewing.
A practice of exploration of the self in relation to the group to arrive at the creation of a personal and precious textile pictography: the TAROT. Individual arcane, imaginary iconography that will translate fit cut and sewn the fragments of personal experience thanks to learning the simple technique of fabric collage inspired by Japanese Boro.
The individual workshops will take place in one special weekend formula in order to expand both the possibilities of relationship and knowledge between the participants and the use of the permanent exhibition of the Museum and its Textile Botanical Garden® .
The workshops will also involve users of the Fermata d'Autobus Onlus treatment circuit, users of the Celestial Strawberries Community - female double diagnosis for the treatment of abuse, violence and mistreatment and will also be activated in parallel on the Milan area - guests in the spaces of Cascina Cuccagna - in collaboration with the Community Association Il Gabbiano for the involvement of women prisoners in Milanese prisons (or who are serving their sentence on the territory).
THE RETURN EXHIBITIONS FOR THE CENTENARY OF ITALO CALVINO
The cycle of workshops will end with two restitution exhibitions set up both in the spaces of the Foundation and Textile Museum of Chieri and at the Cascina Cuccagna center in Milan in which all the textile works created by the participants will be presented together with the new Lalàgeatelier P/E 2023 upcycling collection inspired by them. An exclusive tarot deck created by the artist and which will include all the pictographs created, will be presented as part of the events to celebrate the collective journey.
