ARS ET INDUSTRIA Project

ARS ET INDUSTRIA

Series of conferences, exhibitions and workshops

Interventions by specialists in the art and manufacture of textiles,

its history and contemporary developments.

With exhibitions of drawings and artifacts of historical and artistic interest.

Curated by Melanie Zefferino, the "Ars et Industria" cycle is a program of cultural dissemination, exhibition activities and workshops between the visual arts in relation to the textile arts, conceived by looking at both history and the contemporary world as a prelude to the future.

“Ars et Industria reflects the identity and statutory purposes of the Foundation and expresses its mission, summed up in the motto "weaving the future in the present with the weaves of the past".

In this way we have worked to infuse new life into the Textile Museum of Chieri by promoting not only the knowledge of the history, techniques and materials of the traditional textile arts, but also the contemporary production that can arise from it by intertwining with all the arts and the creative industries – increasingly oriented towards the rediscovery of traditions in pursuing the transition greens and the sustainability of processes and work.

In the new millennium, the binomial "art and business" can materialize in a reality such as that of the Chierese Foundation for Textiles and the Textile Museum, which combines permanent exhibitions with artistic research and continuous training - both for adults and of school pupils of all types and levels without forgetting people with disabilities or exempting themselves from the need to start a fruitful dialogue with other similar realities.

For these reasons, "Ars et Industria" is configured as a multifaceted program of unprecedented coinage, aimed at different user groups and intended as a basis for profitable comparison between scholars, students, artists, connoisseurs and novices and potential enthusiasts of the textile arts as expressions of creativity and culture.
