Courtesy of Angelo Vasino S.p.A, from 14 to 28 January, in the Sala della "Porta del Tessile" in Chieri (via Santa Chiara 10/A), several films projected in a loop act as a counterpoint to the 15 photographs that return what the artist's eye knew captured in the prestigious Chieri textile factory, which commissioned him a project ad hoc.

Through the lens, a particular allure emanates from the colored cones that feed a warping machine, threads that wrap around a beam or flow between the healds of today's looms, where young and old hands of expert operators breathe new life into an ancient art but in the present. The latest generation of looms and warpers also shine, immortalized in the Chieri plant today led by Giuseppe and Renato Vasino, the latter a director of the Foundation.

The Foundation has recently completed a training project to start work in the textile industry promoted by the Cotton Textile Association of the Turin Industrial Union.

Chieri is not the "first love" in the parable of textiles experienced by Rossano B. Maniscalchi, who has also produced a valuable publication on Stefano Ricci's Antico Setificio Fiorentino. It boasts advertising campaigns for well-known fashion houses, including Dior, Yves Sant Laurent, Moschino, Calvin Klein, Guess and Levi's, as well as collaborations with luxury fashion designers and entrepreneurs such as Giorgio Armani, Ermanno Scervino and Salvatore Ferragamo. Chieri, however, leaves its mark on the maturity of Rossano B. Maniscalchi for the experience in the "cradle of textiles", where he is awarded, in memory of the founder of Angelo Vasino, the "Navetta Arcobaleno" Award of the Textile Museum, reserved to artists who distinguished themselves in combining multimedia languages with the textile arts, "for the masterful rendering of the world of textiles and fashion through photography and film, new media with which he was able to grasp and interpret materials, structures and aesthetic values of the weaving process as well as the creation of designer clothes, restoring their material reality and workmanship, but at the same time enhancing their value, charm and refinement”.

Antonella Giordano, Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Chieri, and Renato Vasino, CEO of Angelo Vasino SpA will intervene at the award ceremony

«With this start-of-the-year event dedicated to excellence - comments Melanie Zefferino, President of the Chierese Foundation for Textiles and the Textile Museum - the Foundation is reinforcing the bond with its Founding Members and the local community of reference shedding light, through art, on contemporary textile production in one of its best declinations».

ANGELO POTTY (1916-2009)

He founded Vasino & Ciaudano in partnership with his brother-in-law in 1955, with two looms, a warper and two workers, creating a small weaving mill which he began to export to Europe and overseas.

In 1973 the company was enriched by the printing house in Cambiano and, thanks to the support of the founder of the sons Renato and Giuseppe, the Vasino reality became free internationally and became a reference point for Made in Italy in the world.

In 2011, the production of fabrics for fashion was joined by that of furnishing fabrics.

Today the Angelo Vasino S.p.A continues to evolve, to project itself into the future without losing its roots with the entry into the company of the third generation of the family with Giovanni, Valentina and Stefano. A future marked by innovation made up of multi-year investments in machinery, in a rigorous path of sustainability and growth in the presence on the Italian market and alongside brand Italian and international in the world.
